History – Jade and Ruby were twin sisters born to James and Kayla Everwood in England. Kayla was only fifteen at the time, and was a thin, frail teen, having grown up with next to nothing. As such, there were complications with the birth, and the girls were born prematurely. Both were sickly and neither had much chance of survival. Kayla came out of the birth far worse than she had ever been before, and James was highly concerned for the well-being of his new family. All three were placed in intensive care, and everything that could be done for them was done in their time at the hospital. Miraculously, the twins did survive the ordeal. The same could not be said for Kayla. The girl passed away quietly on the eve of her release.
James raised the twins to the best of his ability and with the help of his own mother. Both had very poor immune systems and were often quite ill, but the family managed. The 18-year-old was not in school, thankfully, and so was able to watch his little angels a good amount of the time. The girls were three years old when James and his mother made the move to America. It seemed like things were going to be alright. It sucked that they were growing up without a mother, but it wasn’t all that horrid.
It was another year later when James brought Patricia over to meet the girls. The two had started dating a couple months after the familys arrival in the United States, and he had kept it quiet from the girls and his mother until that point. Ruby and Jade loved the young woman, and were quite excited for whenever she came over. Jade especially liked Pat, and developed an affection for her that would have been reserved for her mother.
Ruby got horridly ill when they were five. It started off as mild pneumonia, but quickly progressed into a much more severe case. The sisters were kept apart during this time, for James worried Jade would get just as dangerously ill if she hung around her twin too much. Ruby didn’t make it, and Jade lost her best friend. She found solace in her family and father’s girlfriend, but the hurt and hole inside her would never completely heal.
Two years later, James and Patricia got married. Jade was ecstatic to have her as a part of the family now, and even took to calling her “mom.” Liam was born a year later, and Sarah another two years after that. Jade loved having two younger siblings to watch out for, and things were finally starting to look up. Life went on fairly normally for the next few years, and all was well and good. Jade graduated high school and went straight into college for a music program.
Tragedy struck a month ago in the form of IBED. Jade knew her father had been a part of the FBI. In fact, she had been quite proud of him as she had grown older, for he was one of the few who refused to participate in the corrupt activities and simply worked hard to stop IBED. Well, he got too close to something big, and so the attack happened. IBED agents came straight to their home in search of James. Patricia had known immediately that they weren’t the insurance agents they claimed to be, and so refused to let them in. She was the first to die that evening.
Somehow (possibly even by sheer luck), Jade managed to get herself and Sarah out of the house. The pair did get separated afterward, however, and have not found one another since. She doesn’t know if her half-sister died or if someone found her and took her in. She keeps looking, hoping to find an answer one way or the other. Jade stuck in school only for the sake of having a couple hours a week to completely occupy her mind with things other than IBED. She has gone by Mya since then, fearing IBED might have her name, and hoping going by a second name will keep them away from her for a while. If they’re even after her, that is.
Personality – Jade is a fairly calm and agreeable young woman. She hates conflict, and tends to just go with the flow. She is easily upset, but tries to not let it show, preferring to suffer in silence. She hates “dragging other people into her problems” and would rather sort things out on her own. Some days all she longs for is a hug or someone to help her, but she is far too afraid of what others think to really open up.
She is actually fairly shy when she first meets people, but it doesn’t take much to open up her friendly and gentle side. She trusts fairly easily, but is still generally wary of people. She is quite skittish, constantly on the lookout for IBED members who aren’t necessarily after her.
No matter how wary or nervous she gets, she is and always will be a very caring and loving person. She is always willing to help another, be it with studying or helping someone out of financial troubles.
Strengths – She has a brilliant ability to tell when people are lying to her. (She knew her father was working somewhere other than the desk job he claimed to have before telling everyone he was with the FBI) She has a quick mind and can manoeuvre herself out of tight situations, and has very quick reflexes.
Weaknesses – Because bottles her feelings up a little too much, she is often pushed to emotional breakdowns. These are usually when she is alone, but they still leave her quite vulnerable and unaware of what is going on around her. She is a lousy fighter (both in hand-to-hand and with weapons). She has a weak immune system that leaves her ill quite often. Severe illness isn’t as large a concern as it was when she was young, but she pretty much always has a cold.
Fears – Spiders, absolutely. Those creepy little critters just freak the hell out of her.
IBED. She constantly feels like she has to be on the lookout for them.
Storms. The combination of thunder and eerie flashes of lightning give her the chills.
Languages spoken – English. She took French immersion, and so speaks a fair bit of this language as well.
