[J]ob – Sort of an odd-jobs, Mark does whatever anyone will give him, usually involving manual labor as it doesn’t require much skill. Right now, he’s a Waiter in a Medium-class bar.

uild – Lithe, thin and flat, most of his “muscles” are located in his upper arms and legs, so he has little definition on his chest at all. Broad shoulders and a slightly angular face.
[H]air – Short, dark brown (black in some lights) hair, usually loosely gelled.
[E]yes – “Ghost” blue, which is very pale blue (in some lights almost white/grey) eyes.
[E]thnicity – American.
ccent – None. However he does have a small habit or murmuring or slurring.
pparel – common outfit, minus tie, apart from that, usually an aviator coat (expensive, and probably his most favourite item) and some jeans, various shoes. Always dresses in uniform for any of the jobs he is on, minus any ties or neckerchiefs.
[O]ther – Five of these going down his spine from the neck, slowly gaining in size.
ccessories – Nothing but a slightly rusty Swiss army penknife and a simple tazer.

[H]istory – Mark was born into a small family, his parents were not married and relatively young, they didn’t really know how to care for a baby, the stress of having a child in their already fragile, under developed relationship split them completely. Mark went to live with his mother. He knew plenty of other men in those times, as his mother matured and raised him with his father’s limited access, and so she had plenty of other suitors. Never the correct type. Constant break ups, abuse or the ilk gave her mental issues. Her depression eventually got the better of her, and she died before Mark’s fifth birthday, he was never sure what exactly happened.
Mark then went to live with his father and his father’s new girlfriend; at the time the girl was pregnant with what would become Nathan, Marks younger step-brother. His childhood was in turn relatively average after that. He became slightly bitterer towards his father and could never truly accept his step-mother or his half-brother.
Academically Mark was extremely smart, excelling in most of his classes during his earlier life especially with science. It became a joke in his family that he would be some sort of mad scientist eventually. They probably picked up on the morbid pleasures even as a child that he indulged in, relatively simple things, like writing down what happened to butterflies if you removed only one of their wings, recording the survival time of a slug with no eye stalks. Weird things like that.
At around college and university he slowed down and started to fall in with a “bad crowd”, getting into drug use and generally starting to slack off. It caught up with him in university and caused him to drop out before he could finish.

ersonality – The most noticeable personality trait in Mark is that he is rather easy-going yet not at all placid. He tends not to respond to people mocking him for instance and could be considered reserved and quiet, taking things in his own time and usually by himself. He doesn’t actively seek out other peoples company unless its input or critique for anything, but he will not refuse or ignore anyone that comes to him.
Upon first meeting him, he turns slightly defensive, trying to keep himself to himself without being rude or aggressive in any manner. After around half an hour or so he will gently allow himself to open up, but only talk about topics he feels most secure about. He feels less secure around younger people, young teens, children and especially babies seem to evoke a strange feeling of panic and him, and he would try to remove himself from the situation as fast as possible.
Saying this, he quickly adopts himself to older adults of any interest to him, those that know a lot about subjects that are appealing to him, and for instance he bonded very well to his university tutors. It’s safe to say he’s very smart and quick off the bat, and tends to do a lot to please his mentors or elders.
This could also be seen as one of his biggest flaws, if in a situation with someone skilled in manipulation then he would quickly fall for it, and so such things as bribes will work on him. Another flaw is his drug addiction; various substances affect his work rate, and he prefers those which give him a calmer or relaxed high.
Mark has good manners however, and understands the importance people play for him, food, water, and most especially money. How else could he fuel his addiction without money? And so he’d probably do pretty much anything that isn’t too degrading for any spare amounts, and that leads to the ethical he can be paid to shut up about something, but he can be paid higher to talk about it. Thus he tends not to do a favour unless it’s for personal gain.
What drew him into IBED was his thirst for knowledge, and eventually became slowly corrupted with the desire for science to advance. He wants to know what it would be like in such the perfect world that the IBED scientists strive for, and, to an extent wishes to be acknowledged for the intelligent being he is. Despite never having finished university he strives to become one of the world changing scientists and put his mark.
A poor physical fighter, he would rather back down from a fight than try and provoke one, but usually never by admitting he is in the wrong or allowing the other person to “win” mentally. Can sometimes be startled and find it hard to trust some people, and has the nasty habit of judging on appearance and first impressions.
• Very smart.
• Highly curious and eager to learn (only subjects that interest him).
• Agile, but usually in the manner of running away than attacking.
• Bold and sometimes stubborn.
• Unafraid to experiment.
[W]eaknesses –
• Not the greatest of fighters.
• Often lazy and has a slow work rate on anything that doesn’t seriously interest him.
• The drug addiction is slowly playing havoc with his health.
• Easily manipulated, can sometimes be considered naive.
• Judgemental of others, and sometimes puts himself first.
[F]ears – The commonest ones, falling and tight spaces are unpleasant for him, but he is also completely unable to stand the feeling of warm linoleum on skin. Random, I know.
[H]abits – Drug addiction ranks quite high on here, he indulges in it whenever he has the money to buy it. But he is also fond of studying things and performing his own little experiments, and can spend a long time holed up in the attic of his flat.
